In Loving Memory of Wiley Post
August 12, 2006 - October 16, 2008 If you have a picture or story about Wiley, let us know by sending an email to Webmaster@traineddogs.org and we will post it. Video of Wiley & Todd (2 minutes long) (.WMV file takes about 1 minute to download) "God got a good dog. He can open the gates of heaven for himself" - Todd Tacker Wiley was a happy dog who never met a stranger. He was loved by everyone who met him. If he was human, he would have been a surfer dude 'No worries, Man !' was his attitude about everything. He died after complications from an abdominal obstruction. Everything possible was done to try and save him. Wiley was certified as an assistance dog in the summer of 2008. "Todd would say to Wiley "Show me LOVE" and Wiley would rear up and start licking his face. That began to happen the more they worked and the more they bonded. It's what we strive for, why we do the work we do." - Jackie Konarik Wiley loved Todd and was very bonded with him, as you can see from the picture below:
Wiley loved to watch TV and hang out with Todd:
If you ever met Wiley, you know he had this crazy habit of smashing the side of his head to the ground and pointing his tail in the air. This usually happened with he was really happy and wanted to be petted. We called it "Bottoms Up!" It would have been great to have a picture of that because it was a classic Wiley move. Wiley was an adorable puppy both for the way he looked at you and his big fluffy ears
Wiley was even on A New Leash On Life Christmas card:
This is the day Wiley was certified with Todd:
Wiley was one of a kind, quirky, smart, fun, tough, full of personality. He was a beloved companion and service dog. We are heart-sick with out him. He will be missed more than can be expressed |
